Overheating, and coolant in the oil are some signs.

coolant in your oil, oil in your coolant, oil/coolant leaks around the head is what I know about blown head gaskets.

One quick check you can do - while engine is COLD, take the rad cap off. start the engine and let it warm up. Look into the rad and watch for bubbles. the bubbles are the exaust gasses leaking into the water jacket, and means your head gasket is sick.

What is the color of the smoke? Blue means it's burning oil. White means it burning water or it's condensation from exhaust meeting cold air.

Hello friend, dont let that motor overheat or you will blow a gasket. It has an aluminum head. Watch the temp gauge. Most blown hg will spew white smoke. A shop will be quite expensive to do. Prob between 900-1800$. Try replacing the thermostat first. A shade tree mechanic can, (I mean doing it yourself with all the pullys and the kit) do it for 400.$ Its mostly labor charge. Difficulty of 1-10, 4. Dont rule out relays and dead fans first. If you know how to use an Ohm meter that helps with relays. 12volt jumper wires for the fans. How many miles, and did it allready overheat?

Post Script: the thermostat does not take 400$ to replace I meant the head gasket doing it yourself. The thermostat is like 15$ bucks and 15 minutes.
