Bought a rolla...

I just got back from buying a corrolla, and I dont know why, but I just dont have a good feeling about anything right now...

Here's it in the Auto Trader

Anyone else go and look at this car? The seller said a few people did.

And i got some q's... does it have an lsd? it is a GTS i believe, hey and the car was ultra clean... well expect me to be around this board alot more often, and at all the events... you guys going anywhere again anytime soon?

jack up the rear.

spin one tire.

if the other spins in the same direction as the one u'r holding, it's got an lsd.

if it doen'st, then you don't.

if you have a feeling that something's not right, you should'nt have bought the car to begin with.

did you have the car tested and inspected before purchase?

i just thought lsd was standard on the GTS, no mechanically the cars great at least I think so anyways, and no i didnth ave it inspected or nuttin, i will after I get in my hands tho (aint that kinda fukin gay?) but the car looked clean, theres no rust on it anywhere, the paints original, but the fenders and some other areas have been patched up. I drove it and it seemed nice, the guy an old dude, used it to get his ass to work, its definetly clean...

what would you have looked for if u were buyin this car?

i woulda put it on a hoist and go over it w/ a fine comb.

very RARE would you find a daily driven 16 year old car w/ absolutely NO rust.

no EXTERIOR rust maybe.

but you will find rust if you look hard enough.

unless he undercoated and oil sprayed that thing 3 times per winter every winter

and for your info, no canadian GTS had lsd from the factory. nor was it standard in american GTS models.

ya there is some rust, just none on the body, the rust is on things like suspension.

having no lsd is sucky, I guess thats gonna have to come down the road...

woah im feeling kinda glum about not getting it checked over now... I will later on tho, the guy was pretty trust worthy. (it always seems that way doesn't it?)

any frame areas that I should specifically check for rust or repair? anything else I should know? I hope you guys dont think im some *** and my names Takumi or something... I know just buying the car like that makes me seem like that, but im not, maybe thats why that jackass lafora didn't congratulate me on the buy, maybe (kiddin) really i work in a shop (CDN tire at Kipling and Rexdale) and have wanted something RWD for a while, I'd way rather prefer a 200SX, I had one but its out for good. Damn I still want a 200... I hope you people hate me, good. good for you.

Ima stop now.

last thing i wanna do is rave about it and then i see a post by hopeful saying,

"well guess what guys..bummer. chked out the car today and it wasn't as good as i thought"

let us know when she becomes legally yours doens't hurt to see more AE guys on here

open diffs aren't that bad. tho a gTS isn't a GTs w/o some sort of lsd (phantom grip excluded )

Lafora, that wont work on most cases. Because for example on a Limited slip, heat needs to build up between the plates, that will then make the diffrential oil heat up, expand and push the plates together. Turning the wheel by hand wont generate enough heat to do it.
Just go to an empty parkingspace and do few donuts, if you see two black lines, its got LSD

Congrats on the car. But for that price you should have had the guy safety and e test it. That's what I did. And I still wound up dropping almost $5k into repairs. lol.

Unless that car is from the US it ain't going to have an LSD. but you should check the underside for rust. Especially around the wheel wells.

Congrats on joining the red coupe club :P.

My 86 has a quite a bit of rust on the underbody, while although surface does piss me off a lot. But that's what you'll get driving through winter. Be sure to get it checked out for any softspots and if you plan on driving through winter like I do. Be sure to oilspray and wash the underneath atleast once a week.
