take a dishtowel (well an old one) and run it back and forth around the handle, well behind it, that should take out the clip that's holding it in, then it comes off

there's a tiny u-shaped or c-shaped clip on the retractor handle that attaches it to the spoke.
The dish towel solution has a tendency to get frustrating if it's 3 tries and no dice but if u have enough clearance, wrap a thin rag over the tip of a flathead screwdriver (to protect your panel) and pry it off at the open end. Watch your eyes tho, cuz once it gets even a little way off it just pops right out so be careful but watch where it goes.
Don't force and watch the finish on your panel.

^ but that costs MONEY!

paper towel method is free and as mentioned above the flathead screwdriver method works nicely too
