I recently went to change my broken thermostat on my 1991 corolla with a 4afe engine, but it was not where I expected it to be.Does any body know where it is?

follow your lower rad hose to the block, and it should be around that area. unscrew two screw on the housing and there should be the thermostat.

toyota is the only one i believe that locates the thermostate in the inlet hose...

almost all other manufactures have it the other way, exit hose

thats probably why you checked the other hose instead
