Question Carbs!

Anyone own a carb engine with a sidedraft setup and had to extend the choke cable? How did you do it? Is there any aftermarket cable I can get or should I just tie bike wire to the end and just extend it that way? Any input or trick is cool thanks.

"kpsxtyone"... did the engine swap for my '83 kp61. powered by 16V 4ag with dual 40's solex carbs. him and his dad have been doing this for a long time, even back home (Philippines). they've done from the old school motors (2TG, 18RG, 3TC) to the newer ones (20V 4AG, 3TGTE, 1JZ [found on the hardcore section]). his KP61 was powered by a strong carb motor before he switch to fuel injected. so yeah, you can say they're LEGENDARY!

FYI: he's doing all this mods in their home garage! (hanep talaga!)

Jover has been around for a while though I think he mostly lurks now. I see him post from time to time but not that often. His log on here is driiift_hachiroku. So I guess you could try and pm or e-mail him.

I my self plan on doing the carb conversion when I get some decent hp.

cosmic - u can just use a bike cable. get something that is long enuff so it reaches the driver side. dont forget to get some crimps so that u can use it to make a loop where the chokes are. Then try to pull it and see if it works properly. Install some return springs with light tension so that its just enuff to go back to normal position. Im not sure where u from but if its not cold in your area you maybe able to live without using the chokes coz we dont really use them unless its very cold.

hope this helps

Kewl,
I'll go with the bike cables. I tried 40lb fishing line but the nylon gets scratched up and I think its gonna break soon lol.
Its a bitch trying to install this thing alone. Gonna need an extra hand to hold down the choke for me while I tie everything.

Btw, pulling the choke and gas'ing when you turn off the engine makes a kewl kick ass POW! sound. I recommend this procedure to anyone whose trying to scare off a hot girl.

Yeah I just bought a 82 RX-7 (its an FB) with a 12A engine.
The car isn't much faster than my AE86 but its in way better shape and I love rotaries!

As you can see, the car has the CP Racing (CDN owned! W00T!) body kit on it. Its not bad, lots of money went into this car and it runs like shit cause I can't tune carbs for the life of me.
Anyways, I managed to attach a bike 'derailer' cable on the choke, but I'm gonna need to find a toolmaker or machinist in Toronto to properly attach the cable to a rod.
