Question Can anyone advise please

I have just bought a AE82 Corolla FX -SR with a blown 4A-E engine. Does anyone know if the 4A-Y61 engine will bolt straight in?
Any advice would be very much appreciated. Thank-you

Generally speaking A family motors share the same block design so chances are it will bolt in. That being said I've never heard of the motor you're talking about.

Cool What car is it from....

Hi, thanks for the responces so far. The car is a 1987 Corolla AE82 FX-SR. 1600 SOHC EFI currently with a blown 4A-E. Can lay my hands on a excellent 4A-Y61 but not sure if it will bolt straight in,hence my query. regards Garry

Well we have not heard of a 4A-Y61 ( I looked here http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/P....html#A-series )
but I think it should bolt in no problem if they are both 4As from an AE82 as long as they are both RWD

Cool Thanks Chris

I have since found a genuine 4A-E at a good price so all is fine now. The car is actually FWD, we have some strange combinations here in New Zealand especially after the introduction of the Japanese Imported cars. The combinations are endless. Every Corolla can come out with with totally different running gear, front clips etc. I picked this Corolla up last weekend for $100.00 NZ dollars just due to the fact that it has evidently blown the motor. Silly woman ran it dry of oil which really doesn't hep things. These FX Corolla's are all the rage in NZ with the teenagers. My daughter thinks she is getting it but the wife has already put dibs on it for herself...LOL I reckon this forum is awesome and thanks for all the input. It has been very much appreciated indeed. I've attached a picture of the car as it arrived at my house 30 minutes after buying it.

what he probably means by 4A-Y61 is probably the engine serial number.. take a picture of the damn engine so we can be able to figure out which engine you got.

there's a corolla FX in my area that I've been chasing around recently.. I see the car parked at night only.. if I catch the owner I might ask him to sell me the car.. they're rare in Canada. it's probably an SR5 so it doesn't have the 4AGE in it.. but it would make a decent winter beater.
