future ae86 owner Q's

Well fella's i stepped into a junkyard from heaven the other day, this place has alsorts of car but i found a couple of ae86's, and ae92's, and some rx-7's. but one is in awesome condition compared to the others atleast

it's a ae86 gt-s coupe(i think) with a 4age engine for 300 bux

all that i see is wrong with it is:
passenger side door and front fender had a disagreement
and interior is gone due to the heat and sun down here
and some suspension work

first off i know that it is tough work to bring a car to life and to maintain an ae86 due to its age, but all i need to do is get its in proper running order, the interior doesn't really matter due to its going to be my touge racer.

what i wanted to know is does this sound like a good deal?
and i am sort of tall like 6-2 i was wondering if i should invest in some aftermarket seats so i can move them back in the car to make room for my big a$$.
and is there anything i need to know about before i invest money and time into this car?

i am a senior here in AZ and i have auto 3 periods out of four a day so access to a garage is nothing. and i will probably paint it my self too. I'm not to big on the drifting at the moment i'm more of a touge guy and i think this is the car for me

peace

Check out the "master corolla info. sticky" at the top of this page. It has many links to good advise including club4ag.com. That doesnt sound like to bad of a deal, providing the engine and body are in decent order. You will be replacing many parts though, to get her to her full potential.

Good luck.

I'd recomend the seat if it has a moon roof. I'm 5'10 and if I sit up straight I can feel my hair rubbing on the roof. I'd also recomend a smaller steering wheel for easier entrence and exits.

I wish I had money for a new seat and steering wheel.

man, I wish I could get an ae86 from arizona, that car has no idea what rust is, and for $300! I've got a few favorite search zip codes that I use to search parts of arizona and texas for cars on autotrader.com and I never see ae86, that's a good find.

I know one guy who is pretty much 6' 6" and he loves his ae86's. He found the stock seating uncomfortable on long trips.

Thank you i have already figured i would have to get a reclining seat and new sterring wheel

and yes this thing has no idea what rust is the body is pretty clean except for some f***tard keyed their name on it, and it had the best paint on the lot. oh you say its great no rust but the other day i rested my hand on the dash and it caved in and there went the passenger side part of the das like dirt. but hey that is the price i must pay for a great car i will, all i need now is to go up to canada to get a good dash for cheap.

new plan i am getting two for 500 so i can swap all the GTS parts over into an liftback gt-s that has only the back diff

wow, 300 is a super nice deal, 500 for 2 of them is even betta. ae86's getting rare one day after the next, salvage and collect as many as you can find...

what's the diff between touge and drift? touge is mountain drifting and drifting is, isn't it just drifting? so either way, you'll still be going sideways, i duno why you would like one over the other if touge engages you in the same activities

Touge

I thought touge was racing from one point to another either up or down hill with one car leading and the other following. If the gap is maintained, the following car wins, and if it is increased, the leading car wins. There is no drifting involved as far as I know because the idea is to get their the fastest...?

yeah i'm more of a grip guy and to get there faster most of the time is to grip it all the way there

unlike initial D touge racing can be accomplished with only grip most of the time

not trying to hate against initial D or anything i mean i like it too but for only so long (and unlike other people it did not make me want an ae86 Dorikin did that with his car, watching Best Motoring dvds)
