no brakes...pls help

...well basically.

today i bought some pads (yeah, cheap ones just to hold me off till next pay day since my other ones were pretty bad).

anyway, i did the pads, but didn't touch the discs or break lines (no bleeding). i took it out for a spin and i basically have no braking power. it stops and stuff, but it doesn't stop the car right away....instead it feel like im bearing applying the brakes while I'm actually mashing the peddle.

anyone have any ideas of what i did wrong or should have done??? my mechanic is way on the other side of the city (in scarb)....there's no way i'll chance driving down there. filtered, maybe i'll have to tow her. money i dont have

thanks, i really appreciate any feedback.

did you pump the brakes after installing the pads, if not thats why it takes about ten pumps to get them back.

and did you check all the brackets and bolts before you put the wheels on?

and check is your pads didn't fall out at some point?

yea man, i pumped the brakes right after install. maybe around 10-15 times. they got stiffer than the first time, but they're still hella soft.

everything else appears to be fine.

thanks for the input bro.

I think the pads you got are really bad. Maybe they disintegrated?

Seriously, try bleeding your brakes.

bleed the brakes

i've actually had this problem before. i'd say you got air in your lines somewhere. bleeding your brakes will help, but i bled my brakes quick a few times and it still didnt get the air pocket. you may have to trace the brake line that has the air bubble and unplug the other end and let it go out the other way... i'm not exactly sure how i solved my problem as i called a friend and he took care of it....

basically it sounds like you got air in the lines...
