Goin a 100 in the ae86 is like 3500 rpm, my usual speed on the highway is like 120, and then its liek 4100rpm, that can't be good, for gas mileage and wear on the engine. What do you guys do? jump up to like 130, let go of the clutch? Im pretty sure this is a quick way to burn the clutch thats why I dont do it, but i dont like that kind of rpm for 2-3 hrs at a time and what kind of gas mileage do you guys get? I havent measured mine yet, I will now tho.

same here.. about 4000-4100 at 120km/h on the highway, a full tank will last me 3 days.. I put about 150km per day, so about 450km on a full tank and I can still make it to work the next day if I wanted to.. so add 75km more.. about 525km on a tank. My usual speeds on the highway are 120km/h to about 140km/h ( but I'm known for little spurs of 150-160km/h when I get the chance. )
Wholly fuck those 4A-GEs rev to high heaven! 4000RPMs at 120km/hr Sounds like they need a six-speed.
But shit I converted your kpl to mpg and you are getting good gas mileage for 4000RPMS, I'd say my car would get close to that mileage at that rpms.
BTW how many liters do your AE92 and 86 tanks hold?
At 120 kph my car is at about 2800 RPMS, at 100 kph it's at about 2600 or so. At 120 kph I'm getting 39 mpg which is equivelant to 628 kilometers on 38 liters(16.5km/ltr):p Modern Technology at work
My tank holds 13 gallons = 49 litres. With an average in-town/highway of about 35mpg I can go 455 miles = 732 kilometers on one tank of 87 Octane muhaha!
You can tell I can reach top-speed in 4th gear Overdrive baby!
in a 4a-fe i get about 600km per tank at 120km/h - aprox 3500rpm fully laden. That is using Premium unleaded tho... before i switched i got about 550k's... Tank is a 50L.

You do get "desensitized" to the noise of 4000 rpm for several hours, after your first trip.
And look on the bright side: your car's always on top of its cams when you want to pass someone.
I drive through the Rocky Mountains with my 86 GTS. It climbs those mountain roads with noooooooooooo problems, and that's a lot more than I can say for cars (with a lot more hp) that I pass going up those hills.......

oh and chris, ur car is SUPERB ON GAS!
i wish my car can go that far on one tank
but 2xxx RPM at 120? man that's LOW RPM!!!!
Well it's not really "2xxx" RPMs when it's 2800-2900. I'm not sure the exact RPMS but I know at 128kph I am at 3000rpms in 5th so it's prob. closer to 2900RPMs
But yeah, like I said I can reach my top speed of ~185kph in 4th gear and still have 1000rpms before redline so 5th has nothing to do but get good gas mileage. Surprisingly it still has good roll-on as well Hell 3rd gear will take me to 140kph
You guys must have slick gear-boxes though. Shit my dads 4 -banger '76 BMW had a four on the floor and it was pulling similair rpms to your five-speeds on the highway so your gears must be close
