The question I have is are eibach springs bad for drifting? The reason I ask is I hear people say all the time that eibachs are bad because they are progressive rate springs, that the spring rate changing during the drift will cause problems , but in the same sentence will recommend trd springs which too are progressive rate. I am not looking for an answer to is this spring great for drifting? I believe you can adapt to most anything. I am looking to hear if anyone has personally switched to a trd or eibach springs and had very bad experiences.

Well,

I've have had used both progressive springs (Apex) and single rate race springs on my GTS. From my experience on the track, the single rate springs are MUCH better and predictable at the limit especially when at turn-in. It's a point and shoot affair with the linear single rate springs. Proof in the pudding? I spun out 3 times at the track when I had the progressives, and never on the single rates.

Also, the TRD ones that you have been referred to are probably the TRD Japan springs, which are single rate performance springs. I would recommend those for serious applications.

So if you wanna be pimpin and have a suave ride while having your seat reclined leaning to the center with your wrist on the top of the steering wheel, and don't wanna drive seriously, get the progressive rate springs. But if your steez is about taking an AE86 to it's limits, don't comprimise and get the single rate springs.

don't get progressive no matter what!
they SUCK! especially trd usa's (eibach rebadged) They engage late, and are hard to predict, esp on the track. IMO with progressive, you doubt the cars ability to enter the turn and let the stiff stuff take over... its just ain't kool...go set rate for sure man.

don't progressive springs have a smoother ride for daily driving? is this the trade off?

Wow andrew I'm totally suprised that you're actually asking a semi-technical question!

Yes the progressive springs provide more comfort (all camrys use progressive springs and it's the only type available).

yeah they are kind of a hard ride...but then again, we might have shocks that are blown!

go for the coil over conversion for the front and set springs in the rear. I'm currently exploring using either the Harada Shoka coils or GC coils up front (7kgmm) and set springs in the rear (5kgmm) with HTS dampers all around.

I like how the KG/MM feels. Another surprising one are the Intrax springs.....they ride really nice!!!

Are the intrax springs single rate? If so would the tokiko struts and the intrax springs be a good combo?
