I have a four door corolla,
i want to source and engine and swap it with a 4AG-ZE a T51 and swap that into my car. The other necessary mods would also follow as well......suspension......brakes....bodywork/pain job etc.
BUT
I have also found a cheap 1985 hachi, very decent body, but engine needs some work....and again i would perform the same mod's to it if i bought that car as well.....
What would benefit me in the long run? What would be a cheaper car to perform work on?
The other alternative is buy the hachi and do both mod's to both cars....
if only my landlord would allow a car perched on blocks for a few monthes...

i would disagree with hachi_slow on this one! if i were u i'd fix up the ae86 for it is older. through my observation, i'm assuming u'r not gonna be rushing this project, right? so u want a solid daily driver, the ae92 coz it's newer. u don't wanna get caught with 2 cars in the driveway both not drivable. modding both cars will take time and money. i'd say do one at a time. but i do agree with hachi_slow, both cars are fun so do 'em both, but not the same time.. both have different characteristics so u'l enjoy 'em both.

it suits my needs, as there isnt really anything wrong with it aside from an oil leak that i cant find the source for...but its not that big of a deal...
If i do get the hachi, i would start driving that but, i would also dump some money into the pertinent parts and acc's right away.....while still driving the four door.
85 red ae86, 2 grand....180k on the body and engine, with new gaskets and new brakes and tires right now...good deal?

so you're saying you want a 4a-gze, strip the supercharger and put a t51 turbo on it intead?
either way, it's going to be an expensive swap, and you'll need to find a RWD tranny for the GT-S (that will bolt up easily) that can handle higher amounts of power...... if you do it in the ae92 your daily driver will be out of comission for probably the better part of 2-4 weeks.....
plus, you need to decide if putting probably $2,000(US) or more into an ae86/92 or so is worth it to you

an e51 will bolt up in a FWD as well... it's the tranny that came in the latemodel 4a-gze's....... the only difference is the rear mount is slightly shorter (i believe) than the ones for the c50/52
also, the e51 has a factory toyota LSD
