sorry man i dont know much spray kits are. if your 4ag is bone stock then your looking at about 115 hp. where as the high comp or the non tvis one has about 125 or so. theres actually alot of guys here in hawaii that have that motor and swap it into their ae86s. they use the red top block with the blue top heads.

If your car is an 89 with the stock motor then its a bluetop not a redtop.

yeah! sometimes the previous owner just swap the valve cover from the redtop and not the actual motor. happens a lot! tvis is what gives it away!

lol so its a blue top motor with a red top valve cover...
im debating weither or not to keep my car... but i would also like to go fast... and there isnt much options... that i have found at least... besides swaping. i was hopeing to make this into a sleeper and own honda owners at the track... but there are some real nice hondas around here that do 11's to 14's

this is just my opinion...

sorry to disappoint man, but if you want to kick some hondas on 400m, you pick the wrong car. 90% of the hondas that're posting those times have done engine swaps and the remaining 10% still has the orig. motor but prolly force-fed it. the bluetop i think is still a good motor, you can modify it but you'll be limited. (ie. if you put NOS or turbo-d the 4AG, the block might not hold up that long and next thing you know you're looking for a new motor) this is why a lot of people tend to just swap it. another way you can go is to put a dual carb set-up. i had this set-up on my old starlet (bluetop+dual 40's solex). the car run 16.1 at 96mph with the carbs not properly tuned. the hondas with non vtec were running mid-16's. the only way you can go sleeper with an AE86 is to do a swap.. like a 1jz (just kidding!) no, but seriously save up and just swap it. in the long run it'll be cheaper and you'll be much happier with the result. goodluck!

this should clear something off your mnd....

AE86: 84~85 has Bluetop with 3Rib Block.
86~87 has Bluetop with 7Rib Block. and all AE86 valve cover has blue printing on "Twin Cam"

AE92: 88~89 has Bluetop with 7Rib Block,
90~90.5 has Redtop with 7Rib block...
and all AE92 valve cover has red printing on the "twin Cam"

i should note that on the thread.....

EDIT: oh and anything with T-VIS is Bluetop. Big Port Intake.
Redtop are non T-VIS with Small Port Intake...

the blue top is about 115 hp. and yeah theres not much you can do to make the motor fast unless you swap it.

in my opinion, just swap the whole engine, getting the whole ECU, Enigine and harness for bluetop 4AGE is around $500 or less...

if you are swaping your 4AFE to GE head, yougotta change the Intake manifold, ECU, Timing belt... and even with those, you may hafto change the piston since the compression ratio are different (i think....)

and also if you had the 4AGE, you can always make the 7AGE conversion justby buying the bottom end of 7AFE. which will directly bolt the GE head on....the only thing now is to get the fuel delivery sytem, which you may need bigger fuel injectors....

all and all, play around with it if you have the time....

theres also tons of info on the net whcih you can search. lots of pple have done these conversion b4.,
