This is my FIRST thread on this forum.
My father in law has an '88 FX automatic. Its a regular FX, not the FX-16.
The car only has 72K original miles on it, but it needs some TLC.
Recently it started running a bit rough. I just changed the cap, rotor, wires, and plugs on it. It runs much better, no more misfires, but it needs a good tune.
Can anybody suggest a good Toyota/Corolla shop or mechanic in LA area. I need someone who REALLY knows and understands these cars.
I already took it to a Toyota dealership, but those guys are just a bunch of remove-and-replace quacks. They are no mechanics. They just want to charge you for "diagnostics" and then sell you a bunch of overpriced "genuine" parts that you don't really need.
I also took it to a regular mom and pop shop and their mechanic said: "it runs fine, there is no problem", but I know it can run better...
So, if you can recommend someone in Los Angeles (Santa Monica-El Segundo area) who can set proper timing, idle speed, and mixture on the car and get it to run at its optimal performance level, please post here.
