Unhappy it starts when IT wants to...

Not related to my whole PCV prob earlier in General Discussion, my rolla's been really sometime-ish when it comes to startup ever since. Whether day or night, in the shade or out in the open, whether I leave it for a couple minutes or a couple hours...it starts when IT wants to. Sometimes it's one tumble and I'm ready to go, sometimes I'll crank for 5-8 seconds before it picks up and sometimes it'll crank until I give it gas.
I can't isolate it to only hot days, or sitting overnight, or only after long drives cuz it's totally random.

The starter and distributor are fine, I serviced the suckers myself and there's no difference ('cept to say my timing advance curve is pretty sweet now *hehehe*). Plugs and wires are good and timing is good. I service the carb myself every 3-4 months or so. Everything works great except I hate having to start it. My mech can't find anything wrong with it either and there's another EE80 FWD with a 3E that came in with the same prob a few weeks after mine.

I'm thinking either the starter relay or, at worst, the fuel pump is at fault.
How do I check both?
Also, are there any technical service bulletins on this?

dude, everywhere I've checked all evening says that random, intermittent hardstarts point to electrical or connection problems caused mainly by corrosion on connector terminals.
I'll have a go at it when it's light out.
If u do b4 I do, post up what u find, k?
