SR5 2 door coupe Carburated.
It hesitates/stumbles while accelerating no matter what the throttle setting is. It does
seem do do better after 3500rmp when it's
floored. Also the check engine light will come on once in a while but after the car is shut off and restared it goes away. It has new plugs/wires/cap/rotor/ air filter and fuel filter. The car compression checks out at 173-178 on all 4. What do you think may be the problem? Accelorator pump? Crap in the carb? fuel pump? and if any of these what
give with the check engine light? - too lean
of a condition picked up by the 02 censor?

Please help.

Thanks,
Bob

could be stuff in the carb or a vacuume leak somewhere.

take off the entire airfilter assembly and start the car and see how it does,

could also be an out of calibrated carb since when you floor it, (adding air) it seems to do better

No vacume leak -

take off the entire airfilter assembly and start the car and see how it does,
what would I be looking for?

How do I recalibrate it? Are there factory
settings listed somewhere?

Is a carb rebuild that hard? - I bought a kit.
I've been rebuilding and tuning dirt bikes for years.

i doubt that the carb itself is shot completely, but i would check it if is adjusted within spec.
run some intake carb cleaner, and spray inside the carb trying to clean out any varnish or deposits?
