Corolla GTS as a rally car...Opinions ?

I am searching for a rally project car, and have narrowed the search to several manufactures and models. Toyota's Corolla GTS is one I am considering but not sure if one year over another makes more sense.

Does anyone have (or know someone who has) experience prepping a Corolla GTS for off-road rally racing and if so, can you give me any background as to year of car, problems encountered, advantages/disadvantages to the Corolla....

Thanx...

flat_out... i spoke to my friends today and inform them that someone might call, inquiring about a rally car set-up. so give 'em a call, ask for Luis. they might be selling their '83 RallyStarlet. it's a got a full corolla gt-s drivetrain, a redtop 4ag if i'm not mistaken, very nice. goodluck bro!

I'd sooner use a FWD in a rally than I ever would a RWD. The amount of control is significantly better for off-road use. Before I get flamed as I always do on this subject, let me just say that I talk from experience.
