Ya, they most likley won't do it. It would be wiser just to start designing a new car and mass produce it. I don't think an AE86 will even meet todays safety standards. So you could buy the car but not drive it on the road. That would ba kind of gay.

Regarding the club4ag post about Toyota actually releasing one about a year back in panda colors. Did they actually do this? I remember reading briefly about it.

I'd want one... but only if it was upgraded to today's standards...

but with these revisions... 3 things must be met

1.) looks the same on the outside
2.) drives similar if not better to the old one
3.) Stronger body + Stronger motor that can sing at 7000 rpm without a hiccup (within reason)

it needs:

-option of japanese zenki or kouki front end
-redline tails
-no rebars
-celica gts motor mated to a tranny with the same gearing as T50
-nice mesh rims as oem
-195/55R14 t1s as stock rubbers
-price of 15,000 cos it's an old ass design!!!

I have a 2003 corolla fwd... I was seriously thinking about getting a AE86... But dealing with parts issues and age factor I didn't go for it.... Now if Toyota would bring bring it back... I think I would get one hands down... what would have to change... I'm not knowledgeable about specs on AE 86 but...

Handling: must be very similar to AE86
Engine: high revving with sweet sound (2ZZ-GE,3S-GE 4th Gen )

Suspenion: the simpler the better in my opinion front struts with and maybe something like the 300 IS rear.
Boby style it would be nice to see the old hachi roku.... maybe they can just smooth the lines out alittle they could use existing zze 122 chassis it's not too stiff. I'd pay $27000 Max.

That would be sweet if Toyota made a limited edition AE86
