20v jdm swap

Hi, my friend has an 88 gts with the 4agelc in it and we were looking into the 20v jdm swap, anyone have any info on this? Is there anything special about this swap that would need special attention more than any other swap?

Thanks,
Brian

it should be a "bolt-on swap".

4agelc was the california emissions equipped version of the motor.

alright, I'll definately do a search. I find it strange that it would be cheaper to drop in an 11:1 jdm 4age then rebuild his old one :/

Ok I've done a search and I didn't seem to find much in the way of swapping it into anything but the ae86s, and those are mounted front to back rather than side to side which is what I want to swap it into. Will there be a problem with the motor mounts?

the reason why you don't see this type of swap on the net is because it's simple enough that you don't need to see it. now, don't take this the wrong way but if you don't have any experience in swapping this motor i suggest to have an experienced shop do it for you. the amount of time and money that you'll be wasting is not worth it. but if you are confident, make sure to double check everything esp. when it comes to the wiring part. if you have all the proper parts like an uncut harness and ecu, you should finish this swap in no time. the motor should bolt on perfectly to your mounts cause the share the same block origin. a friend of mine did this swap about a year ago and it took them 2 full days to swap the motor in and start it. be careful not to damage the parts of this motor coz it's harder to get replacements for them.

goodluck with the swap! and have you tried posting or searching at club4ag. com? here's another link i got from dori-kaze...
