Back in 1993, $50k for a car was a lot of money. Assuming 3% inflation each year, that is about $73k in today's dollars.

They stopped selling the Supras because there was little demand for them. Sport cars gave way to SUVs, not that sports cars sell all that well, nor are they very profitable vechicles.

As for AE86 built on IS300 chasis with tuned 2.0 motor: It was sold in Japan and called Altezza! Basically the same as an IS300 but with a 200HP 3SGE motor.
