to all u 20 valve owners, why go twenty valve? there are plenty of other engines that u can fit in a trueno, a 3sgte, or a 3sge, or a sr20 if u wanna just all out rip the pride outta a car, or any other engine? Whats wrong with those, they are stronger than the 20 valve? why do u all end up buying the same friggen engine and is this an ID issue?

i personally like high rev motors, so i chose the 20V.. now in regards to the other motors you've mentioned not a lot of people including me can afford a COMPLETE 3SGTE or more so the SR20DET. and because a lot of people are getting the 20Vs now, later on a lot of parts would still be available, you know what i mean? and lastly... even if i have cash to get a 3SGTE or an SR20 motor, i don't think it'll fit my car. the hood of my car is already touching the intake can of my motor, so you get the idea now!
BOTTOM LINE: everybody have their own reason but for me that's the only available motor at the time with complete uncut harness, ecu and transmission.

Why go 20v?? cuz usually a 20V swap into a trueno (FF not the FR) will be a cheaper swap than going to a 3SGTE.. the 20V and GZE swaps are pretty much straight forward.. couple of things here and there to customize and that's it.. a 3SGTE would involve having to source a 3SGE tranny from a Camry, and many other things that in the end would just add up to a lot more than a 20V. Mind you though, a 20V swap is still pretty costly.. even in an FF application.. let alone an FR ae86... as for an SR20..
Why don't people swap the SR20 into Corollas? Because it doesn't bolt in. The 20V came stock in the FF Corollas in Japan and is therefore designed to fit nicely.
too much power pounding the stock corolla drivetrain can cause alot of mayhem... i know of people that boost corollas ususally start breaking driveshafts, trannys and ring gears (if it's on ae86). they end up replacing trannys or use a beefier unit (like a celica tranny onto an ae86 for turbo applications). too much torque can do ALOT of damage. something like a high reving 20v, produces more hp than torque. not only would it be easier to do a swap onto a corolla, since it's pretty much made for it, it's cheaper (obtaining 20v itself, like people have mentioned here) because you don't have to spend more money to reinforce your drivetrain or get beefier components
if you think you got the ballz, do a swap on yo car with either of the engines you've mentioned onto a rolla.. i'll give you mad props.
doidoidoi now that u say it, why dont ppl put in rb26dett into tercels?
or howcome i dont see any ferarri powered mr2's?
1) money is an issue
2) it's not realistic
3) if u are financially able to spend that amount of money on a rust bucket, i think it's time that you consider getting a real car.
swapping in a motor isnt always the most effective thing in the first place! the 16v motors have LOADS of aftermarket support...why even bother swapping?
doi oi oi oi

Considering I was thinking of doing a 3S-GTE installation for my AE92....only problem was, it would be illegal for road use after that. but imagine the amount of fun one would have
