this morning when my dad was coming home from work (in the SR5), the front tires probably caught on a patch of ice/snow in an intersection, caused the front to steer to the left, went on an island and took out a traffic light pole...
car ended up in the other lane, the front driver side suspension pretty much took all the damage, the CV shaft got torn out of the tranny, and worse of all the frame near the mudguard mounting point is punctured, the side (rocker panel) caved in and got twisted....and other misc. damage to the side bumpers..
fortunately the car held up pretty solid against the impact and my dad just walked away unharmed, but the amount of money needed to fix the frame alone is way beyond our budget....so i guess another AE92 in TN have to leave....

I don't recall if I ever saw your car at the KC meets (I always thought you had an AE86 not a 92) but anyways.. sad day in trueno land. are you gonna sell any parts?
Well, that is the good thing about the AE92's.. They hold up very well under such abuse... I remember when I hit this lady in my AE92.. just like 2 months after I got it..
Coming down the road.. she pulled out from a gas station and she was stupid cuz she pulled in and made the traffic stop.. and she couldn't see past the traffic to see me coming down in the left lane.. needless to say I slammed on my brakes at 40mph (luckily i was doing the speed limit that night!)
And well it wasn't enough time.. if I would've had enough time to put the car into nuetral and hit the hand-brake I could have avoided the whole incident.. but I hit her Neon and well I destroyed it.. I think I damaged her radiator.. I crushed the front left (drivers side) wheel well against the tire.. popped the windshield washer fluid res or something.. all kinds of crap.. I got out and the parking light was busted on the right front.. my headlights still went up n down fine.. lol
My hood was slightly bunched up.. but nothing serious at all.. I drove away with no problems.. She drove away too.. but she shouldn't have with the wheel well crushed against the tire.. oh well that's a female for ya!
That and a guy in an F-150 decided to back up on-to my hood.. well.. same deal.. I hadn't fixed the damage from the first accident so it wasn't any loss.. he didn't do any extra damage surprisingly.. But I said all the damage from the first accident was from him.. lol I had switched insurance companies since then anyway.. so all in all I cleaned up a LOT of cash in my ae92 from accidents.. it's amazingly strong car
Sorry to hear about your misfortune.. I suppose it all falls on what the good Lord wanted.. maybe the finished project would have let you into a much worse high speed accident.. either way it's a piss.. I know how you feel bud.. Glad your dad is ok..
sorry to hear about that, but when I was reading and you said something about the CV shaft going into the tranny I was sorta relieved it wasn't an '86.
good to hear your dads in good shape

actually the SR5 wasn't trying to look like a GT-S, it still has the foglights and SR5 sticker, and non painted mirrors
as for GT-S' i already have 2 and thats more than enough for me , the reason why we're looking at SR5 for my dad is because its available with a slushbox, and usually are in better condition for a daily reliable beater....its not exactly THE project.
i'm going to check out 2 other SR5s today, wish me luck
