Toyota Corolla 91 stuck at 3rd gear?????

What is wrong with gear stuck at 3rd gear after I downshifted from 5th to 3rd gear and it stucked. Please help.....

The best thing that happened to you is - you have broken clutch, sometimes it will stuck in some gear and you cannot change it... and the worst thing can be that something is broken inside your transsmision (in gear)... synchro-gears can cause this problem if they broke. Or, maybe the connection between your gear handle and gear is broke. First, check the clutch or clutch plate it can stuck gear and check connections from handle to gear... The broken synchro will sound terrible (like something is melting or cracking)... Also you have an arm which is pushing your clutch - it can be broken or disconnected... and that "fork" inside gear, which is regulating which synchro will be connected can broke... Can you drive the car? How does gear sounds?

It is drivable at 3rd but it won't get in neutral at all......thanks guys! I will try to bring it to mechanic and let them check it out....anyone know the price to replace transmission for Corolla 91?

when i HAD my tranny replaced, i had a GTS c52 (rebuilt) put in... when they did it, they found a bad motor mount.... the cost in the end was $1400 US...... but i also needed a new clutch because i had burned it up with all my 3rd gear starts (when my 1st and 2nd completely broke apart)
