Knocking sound
Hi to all!
I have a Corolla sedan version (Japanese) from 1990, and I've started to hear some knocking sound (sometimes sounds like thump) coming from the front end of the car (I think from the right front end of the car), but ONLY when driving over the some types of bumps. It will not knock always - maybe 30% of bumps which I encounter on the road. I cannot hear it while I am turning left or right (no matter what is the radius of turn), and it is not clicking (so I think it is not CV joint or axle), only when I am driving on some types of bumps (it will knock when right wheel goes in to the holes in the road but it will not knock on the bump which is above road level). Also If I start to turn my wheel violently (only when I am at the stop, not while driving, engine off) I can her some thump-thump sound very quiet and deep - I cannot determine where it coming from. Can it be the strut mount? Or it can be something with my steering system (but, I have no problems, no loose feeling, and I have no gap on my wheel)? I've noticed that right strut mount (the central nut) feels like goin' up and down a little bit when I push the car up-down... My mechanic said that it can be strut mount?
Regards,
Ivan
