Eh to be honest it seemed that the oil light on my SR5 never worked.. ahaha.

I know on my moms Ford Taurus wagon when you are braking or sitting at a light or blah blah the oil light will flicker.. it means absolutely nothing though.. it's just a muffed sensor.. reasong being after I took it to Jiffy Lube to have them flush the engine.. because my mums was bright enough to put anti-freeze into the engine oil.. *sigh*

So anyway probably just a muffed sensor.. How does your oil level look? If things are right there then I doubt there is a problem.

I got a GT-S gauge for mine.. and I took out that door open/oil light panel in my SR5.. Cut the wire harness off and took the wires so that now with the Oil light should come on it actually makes the Engine light come on the GT-S gauge.. and I wired the door open light up to the door open spot on the GT-S gauge.. so it's nice and dandy now and my LED air/fuel mixture gauge, the LED's are going to be mounted up where the old oil/door gauge used to be.. although maybe I'll put in the GT-S oil pressure and temp gauge.. hmmm

If the oil light is flickering.....you're almost out of Oil.....so i think you have oil consumption....

in this case, when the oil pressure drops, the oil light comes on....
open your oil cap and look under the cap.....if yousee White Foamy stuff, thats the usuall sign of oil consumption....meaning you probably over heated the engine from the past.

no signs of oil burning

At first I checked the oil level but nothing seamed to me wrong. I even filled it up to full and no change....I even put dura-lube..but again no change...I know the oil level is fine but could it be the oil pump?...are those known to break down on the SR5..I use 10w30 is this the correct motor oil to use

10w30 is ok until about -18C. But the colder it gets the stiffer it gets... for winter I suggest 0W or 5W oils.

in the summer i use 10w40 and in the winter i use 10w30... I mean Flashmn has a point.. but think about -18c.. that's 0F.. it doesn't get down to 0 very often here in the states.. I mean it does.. but not that often to really worry about.. unless you live in Fargo.. lol.
Either way I think 10w30 should run you fine.. when you start the car and the engine is cold just give it a few minutes to warm up before you get driving..

I don't think it's the oil pump... hmm

As long as you aren't losing oil.. their is no issue.. I bet it's just the sensor malfunctioning.. The only issue would be if oil stopped circulating.. but if your oil pump wasn't working.. you'd know about it by now

i would say either sensor, or oil pump

there is a margin there, the light will go on when pressure drops below a certain figure

does it make any kind of sound when the light is on?
