The bulb for my transmission stick went out, how to replace?

hi,

I am not sure whats the correct name for that thing...but the light bulb that will light up the P R N D 3 2 1 of the gear stick is not lighting up anymore...

I am wondering if anyone knows how to replace this bulb...now its all dark, with no lights showing if my stick is in Park, reverse, neutral..etc..

What do you need to take off to replace the bulb, and how?

and what kind of bulb do they use?

thanks.
tak

194 wedge bulb..

You should learn the stick so you don't even need the light.. but anyway..

You have to take off the plastic center console stuff that goes around the actual shift box.. with that out you can put your hand under the box and find the bulb.. a wire goes to it.. u will need to twist the bulb harness out.. it's pretty simply just take your time.. it can be a little frustrating getting the harness twisted out and back in.

"Learn the stick so we don't need the light?" that aint the point I have a peave about dead lights now matter what they be lighting.

Well I've replaced my 99 Corolla's transmision selector light and it indeed is an ordeal to be reckoned with. Not hard at all just frustrating. I had to remove the entire bottom half of my dash and pull both the rear and front plastic parts of the transmission housing as well as the entire center console on the dash. Took more than an hour and a half to do the whole thing, by far the most difficult bulb to replace, depending on year model be prepared to deal with the frustration.

Punisher, you're getting into a habit of talking down to people or flaming them, its not cool.

takkie, what year is your car? If you post the year then more than likely sombody could give you detailed instructions.

I'd rather be open about this.. that in no way was a condescend phrase.. I'm sorry you took it that way but it was just good advice given.

i noticed you were deleting my posts.. i don't know why.. most of the time i post good stuff and you delete it.. and it's pretty pathetic that you take what I say out of context and make your assumptions that i'm bashing people or belittling them or whatever you want to come up with.. find someone else to pick on
