I've got an 1990 AE92 Sedan with a 4A-FE I belive ....if thats fuel injected then it's my motor.......and it's an automatic i was wondering how much work and how much it would cost to have the tranny swapped out for a 5 speed....?
ok second question....i was curious about motor swaps what would be the best for my sedan and what do prices run for different motors
Hey jake.. 2Advanced just did his own Auto-to-manual swap.. I'm not sure how much he paid for his transmission.. it was in CDN$$ and he did all the work himself, so he can tell you how much work is involved. A shop would charge you a few hundred to do this type of job.
Shop would charge you a lot to swap it out.. If you want to try an engine swap than a 4AGZE would work well for you.. and most of the 4AGZE's came with manual tranny's... so just get yourself a levin front clip.. Probably run you around 1,500-1,800 delivered..
what exatcly is a 4AGZE......i thought there was a motor that was supercharged witch one is that....and how much would it be for a Motor, Tranny, and ECU........
Would i need new motor mounts? Would i need a new wireing Harness?
4AGZE.. it's super charged.. And like I said get a front clip.. what it is is a car.. and the front of it is cut off from the rest..
You get that entire front piece.. this way you get everything you need.. tranny.. engine.. ecu.. motor mounts everything.. but I would recommend putting in new motor mounts
if you do just the tranny swap, get a c52 from a geo prizm gsi or corolla gts (ae92).... it has better gearing for performance than the c50 in the ae92 and the c52 from the ae102

You guys are ignoring the fact that it's a lot of work and money to do an engine/ECU/Wire Harness/Tranny swap
You have to know that it is not easy to do a full front end conversion like that, you need to have wiring experience and mechanicla in irder to do, or you will be spending a good amount of money at the shops.
if you are interested in an engihne swap. Here are some engine choices, you can either go with 4AGE (AE92 GTS) because it could be better modified than the 4AFE and there is Redtop 4AGE and Bluetop 4AGE.
Or you could go with a 4AGZe which comes on the older MR2's in Canada and the US or from a Supercharger AE92 couple in Japan.
The last choice is you could just turbo charge your engine and run it on low boost.
Now these are straight bolt-ons. The option are endless if you're willing to modify your car to take any engine.

well... an engine swap isn't ALL that expensive.... i'm swapping in a redtop 4age (JDM low mileage) and i'll be spending under $1,000 including the following:
1st and 2nd are quite a bit quicker.... 3rd still bogs.... and 5th sits at about 3800rpm's or so when you're going around 75mph or so... it "pulls" decently from 75mph or so in 5th gear way better as well....

Well either way I would need the 4spd auto c52.. maybe some day if i need to replace my tranny or whatever.. put the c52 in with a performance torque conv.
i dunno if the JDM one i have is "performance" or not, but i DO have a torque converter off a japanese 4a-ge smallport that will bolt to your flywheel... i'm selling it for $50 plus shipping

whats the difference between the Blue top and Red Top 4age and how much would it be to get one of those with all the parts necessacary for the swap with a 5 speed trans?
