About to buy a 04 Corolla S and...

And I was wondering, if there is any specific site dedicated to corolla performance mods, or any site with 04 mods. I havent found many, mostly for 85-87s....Also, whats the specs on the 0-60 for the Corolla...because 130hp in a 2100 pd car seems prety fast. Im going to test drive it today to see if Im buying it, because this might be my car at the end of the day. So any input about the car and what you think of it, please feel free to let me know.

What specific parts are you looking for? There's everything from TIEN suspension to turbo kits.

Well, first off Id like to get a suspension kit( shocks springs), then go onto minor bolt ons like intake, exhaust, headers. Do they have stroker kits for the corolla? Also, do you have to increase the compression of the pistons if you wanna go turbo? I think the corolla is 10:1 I believe correct? I dont know whats safe to go, all motor or turbo with the corolla...

As far as suspension there are more than enough parts. For HP mods, the engine is shared with the Celica GT and Matrix XR/Base. You can get a stroker kit or cams from a few companies in Japan but I've yet to see one, there are a few companies working on some though. I/H/E mods aren't hard to find. The turbo kits are through companies like Stafford Fabrication. There's also the TRD S/C. You could build the motor N/A but you'll hit a wall quickly and the parts are more expensive than H/A parts. The turbo would be the better choice (IMO) even with the cost of maintenence.

Toyota is gonna be producing a variation of the Corolla dubbed the XRS, which has the Celica's 2ZZ motor with lift rated at 170Hp for the Corolla and upgraded suspension. Somthing worth thinking about.

Where to start...

First of yes a 2003 Corolla has 130 crank HP, but it weighs in at 2500 lbs not 2100, and that's 2500 with no gas or driver.

And you have to lower compression to support high boost not raise it. Raising compresssion is what you are doing when you build N/A, and lowering compression helps to prevent high-compression turbos and superchargers from blowing up your engine. I think the best set-up for a 1zz is a low-boost Turbo app. With stock engine internals you can run around 6 psi of boost (this is intercooled and with a piggy back ecu), and with breathing mods you can put down 180-200 HP to the wheels and wax a Corolla XRS and a TRD S/C'd Corolla.

Good luck on you new car search
