I bought the new Corolla 2004 three month ago for my new job. I have to drive one hour on the inter state highway to my work (and another hour back). I suffered from back pain, and it never goes away even when I don't drive for weekends. I used to drive 30minutes to work and never have back problem with my old cars.
My question is, is the back pain because I am not used to long driving yet ( already 3 month), or is it because the seat of Corolla 2004 doesn't have good back support? Is there any options for me to solve these problem?
find a nice aftermarket seat (not neccessarily a racing seat) that you feel comfortable in.. As I do believe they make very comfortable like leather seats almost like recliners.. big n puffy... but i don't know do some research
Talk to your doctor. You shouldn't be experiencing any pain from driving one hour on the freeway in a new Corolla, unless you are much to large for the car, like 7 ft tall. My 2001 has less leg and head room and a smaller seat than your 2004, and I (6'2" tall) have had no pain after 4 hours pf driving.
If you have side air bags, you probably won't be doing any seat changing. It took me a while to get used to the driving position. If you have an LE or S there is a seat tilt adjustment you may have overlooked.

I'm having the lower back pain also. I have a 03 Corolla S.
It is the seat! I adjusted all kinds of ways and I get tired in 15min. I'm 34y. old. It has nothing to do with the age. The seat sits Too high, does not have good thigh support (the seat is short). When I do turns, feels like I'm about to move from the seat. I'm also looking to fix this problem and I don't know how, maybe buy some aftermarket seats. Any ideassssss???
I miss the seats in my old Honda. I think Toyota seats don't tilt back as far as they should. I don't think it's in the back support, I think it's in the seat itself, it needs more tilt. Not too long ago I test drove a Honda and it felt like I was sitting in my old car again. Honda seats are incredible. I took 6-8 hour road trips in my Honda and never had any problems. One hour in my Toyota is a killer. So I know what you're going through!
