Angry 1990 Corolla heater blower not working

Hi,

I had problems with my heater fan working only on some settings.

Since then the car was parked for about 2 months.

Now the fan doesn't work anymore.

So I started ripping appart the dash, and here is what I found:

As soon as the switch is moved beyond the "off" position, a relay click in the dash.

I read the voltage on the blower connector, and it's 12volts only at the 4th speed.

I read here about the resistor pack, so i checked it and the smaller resistor was broken. I soldered it back on the connectors but a little shorter (i removed th broken part and soldered the rest of the loop). I tested it and the current flow thru all 3 resistor.

Now I hav 12v on all fan settings at the blower connector.

But the blower doesn't turn.

So I tried to connect an old computer PSU (the 12v output) directly to the blower and it works.

Now I'm stumped . Is it possible that there is 12v but not enough amp? Would it be the fault of the switch?

Thanks!!!

Hi,

Thanks for the response.

There is a circuit breaker and it was okay.

I finally found the problem, the current was not powerful enough (only 50 milliamps). The wire comming from the small fusebox wich is on the positive pole of the battery was rusted and almost cut at the connection near the firewall (passenger side).

I cut the wire shorter and remade the connector and everything was working again.

So I dissasembled the dash for nothing...
