Turbo Mods

Hi All,

Anyone know how difficult it would be to add Turbo to the 4-AF 1.6L from 1988?

Or maybe it would be better to swap for a 4A-GE, then add Turbo.

Thanx!

Well everyone here is going to tell you to swap to a 4age.

You could get the more performance oriented "F" head and drop that in.. Don't waste your cash on a turbo or S/C... Instead go with rebuilding the engine with lighter components and a custom intake manifold setup with quad carbs and some sort of good fresh air intake.

Setup a good free flowing exhaust system and larger cams and when you need to haul ass slap stick your auto tranny so you can hold out to higher RPM.. you'll be kickin ass then.

Oh if you really want to get dollars then.. get a performance torque converter.. and a lighter fly-wheel with a more performance oriented auto tranny from like the GTS... or convert to a manual

the only auto 4ag's were mr2's and fx16's (at least here in the states).... and i couldn't tell you if it's any different in the fx16 (the only fwd) than the ae92 tranny's...... when you speak in terms of manuals, though, there are bigger distinctions

C-52 tranny.. auto with a more "performance" gearing. Correct me if I'm wrong with my code.

Swap a 5L V8 from a Mustang on your car.. I heard its getting popular for the Focus.

If you do go for the 4-AGE swap, maybe you should look in TRD for the 1.6L suprecharger.
