hood scoop questions

just put a weber on my 80 corolla wagon, and want to put a scoop in the hood to bring cold air directly to it. My only concern is that it may ingest a lot of water. How to avoid this? My idea is to cut a hole in the hood, drill the scoop to the hood on the sides and rear, and let it hang over the front of the hole so water doesn't drip through. But driving in the rain, water will get sucked in. How to avoid this, or is it a problem?

most (except for cars with top mount intercoolers) factory hood scoops are place in the middle of the hood, then have some sort of inner ducting within the hood to get to the air box

it would look a little funny, but if you mount the scoop backwards it wouldnt' be as much of a problem, there's another good thing that mounting it backwards does, but i can't think of the term (has to do with the excess air/pressure going into the engine bay rather than just over the hood and over the car......)

well, there's a downside to having a forward facing hood scoop..... it basically causes unwanted pressure or air flow into the engine bay and against the firewall.... it was talked about a LONG time ago on alloutracing.netfirms.com when talking about the ae92 hood scoop.....

I'm doing scoops.. except I'm fabricating the scoops from the left and right quarter panels.. It'll look original.. work great and no worries about water.. Unless I venture in 4' of water... uh.. heh
