Gauge Swaping on an AE102

Problem!!!! I Got a 93 Corolla 4 door sedan dx w/o tach. I am desparate to throw a stock cluster w/ tach in it. I picked one up at the junk yard which came from another corolla 93 yet when I swap them, the tach does not regester but everythiing eles does. Brought it to a place (not specializing in the area) siad it had to do with electrical wiring ect. Can this be done??? how much $ we talkin? hook me up with any pointers!

Well the cluster with the tach obviously is going to have one more connection than your stock one so the tach will run.
How did you wire up the new cluster?
I have no idea where the tach signal comes from, but if you get a Haynes manual for the Corolla it should have a wiring diagram for the gage cluster...

hey thanks alot for getting back to me chriss. Sounds like your right about the wiring. The thing is I have been reading other posts about how its just a basic swap and your good to go. Guess not with this car.
I did no new rewiring. I did however print out the electrical plan/ system with tach. I am going to bring it to a place this friday to try and get it done. they specialize in toyotas and aftermarket, they sound confident in there future efforts. Just wanted to know if you have ever done anything like this before

Right on, I haven't.

Is there a wiring harness with a plug behind the cluster?

Hope you don't have to shell out to much for the install.

Is this for a manual tranny?

Sup bro thanks for getting back to me,
Well on the cluster that I just picked up there is one extra metal tab/ receiver that my old cluster lacks. As for every other harness my old cluster is identical. So yeah there seems to be an extra wire harness on this new cluster that my car may not have any wiring to. This is possibly the area for the tach, no?
If it is How much time ya think ( I mean just off the top of your head) would it take to run, I guess, an additional electrical current through my car for this tach? the guy charges about 70$ an hour, he said it would take him 3 hours.

and yeah possibly in the future I will throw a manual in (this summer)

Thanks man, you'v been a big help!
