Maybe it's the newbie in me, but I am struggling to select a better tire, than the stock size provided. I am running on the Goodyear Aquatred 3, 175/65R14 (which I love), but I want a bigger tire.
From reading on plus sizing I'm getting a headache. I'm only looking to increase to maybe 195 or 205 and maybe 15 inch wheels.
Is there someone out there that can help. I've been to most websites (Michelin, Goodyear, tirerack, etc).

Can anyone give me a quick reply on pro/cons to going to a 15 inch wheel? I was looking at the Yokohama offering and like what I see there in the 15 inch.
right now I'm on the stock wheels, but since I need new tires and I was going to change both at the same time.

Over 400K and a few dents, some rust but still going...
going with a bigger size rim...allows u to get bigger tires....bigger tires equals bigger contact patch to the road......plus its also a cosmetic thing....bigger rims/tires look the car look nicer.....

An easier way to figure out which tire you can move up to is to look at the load range. 175/65-14's are an 81 load range 185/60-14 are 82 load range, 195/50-15 are 82 load range, etc... Try to stay on your vehicle's load range which is 81-82 if you go to 84-85 the tires will be taller and therefore will rub the fenders and they will screw up with your speedometer.
hey, any one know what company make Federal tires?
i got 185/60/14s on my car and i like em.....but they were wrecking yard tires
brand new though.......so yea...i have yet to find that company......or is Federal an offshoot brand?

Federal tires are sold by Les Schwab Tire stores.. and even though they're not a "brand name" they kick serious ass. They're very sticky, very predictable handling, and a nice quiet ride. I really like them.. I use them on my Porsche and my RX-7.
