I've searched this forum and google, yet i can't find a diagram for this. http://www.installdr.com's diagrams showed wire colors that don't even exist in my car. My main concerns are "positive" and "memory", the rest i will just have to expirement until the speakers are wired correctly. It's a Kenwood head-unit, i'm sure there's a way of telling the positive from negative connections in wiring speakers (i.e. positive would be solid, negative would be striped)
do yourself a favor.... go spend the $15 or so for the wiring harness..... all you end up doing is matching colors to the wiring harness and the deck, the it just plugs into the factory radio plug.... it's generally how i do it when i'm installing a deck
if the factory plug is gone, then just use a volt meter to find the appropriate wires...... the positive will be on only when ignition is on (or accessories are on) and memory should be on all the time

do you have the original radio plug? even if the colors don't match the ones on installdr.com, you can map it from their plug pin diagram.. that's what i did before... toyota radio wires are weird colors, i can't tell you right off the bat.
somebody on anotehr board told me to use an AA battery to test the wires. you can find out what wires are for what speakers by touching two leads on the postive/negative terminal of the AA battery.
Factory plug/plugs aren't there, I suppose i'll just have to take wires apart and touch them to ground to see which sparks with the key on and which does with the car off. I assume it's fused, so i'll have to track down which fuse i blew unless i can find out which does what.
I got it installed, the speaker wiring in that car was unbelieveable, front two and rear two are wired together, i didn't feel like messing with it and ended up making "Balance" to "Fade".
Can't believe i looked over grouding the CD player and touching wires to "Positive" with the key on until it had power.
That might not be the best thing to do. You may have inadvertently mixed up your power and acc wires. If you have eventually you'll keep burning the fuse with the radio on it.
There was only one wire that had power when you had the key at the on/acc position? You might want to check your fuses then. There should be two wires that have +12v going through them. One is switched (acc) and the other is the constant on.
Yeah, i know, my clock isn't working either. I'll check the fuses sometime tomorrow most likely. I've installed numberous head-units and "systems", but nothing quite like this.
I tried installing a sony head unit on my old 93' corsica and it didn't work. The wires from the original head unit were different from the one on the sony deck. So I didn't feel like fucking up the connections, frying everthing there and wasting time. And I would suggest to you the same what I did; go to a car stereo instalation place and let them do it, spend a little more, but atleast you know that everything works properly. And if not you got someone else to blame then yourself = free fixing.
