I'm asking this because My dad is on my *** and is trying to get me to sell my Corolla GT-S to a scrap yard for $75cnd. I need to get some rough calculations on how many there are left because if I can prove that it is a rare car other than the fact it was only made for 3 years it might get him to **** off for a while.
I've also started looking through the classified sections on the message boards collecting info on how much parts can go for to show him that my car is worth a lot more than $75.
So any numbers on the amount of Corolla GT-S's there were made and how many are still kicking around would be great. Even if it is just for a city or even to see how many are on this board would be a big help too.
there are lots.. you just have to know where to look.. as an example, there is a guy here in london who uses t-50 trans out of gt-s's for converting them to dog engagement race trannies for use in other cars..
last time it talked to him, he said he had 15 cores in his shop.. thats means he pulled them out of 15 corolla gt-s's in junkyards somehwere (i'm assuming in the near-london area)..
also, I know of at least 6 on the road here in london.. and those are just the ones i've seen (and london is a relatively small town)
i'll buy your car for $100.. hows about that.. that's $25 more than the yard is offering
Well other than typical InitalD/Toyota enthusiasts... I still see a few stock AE86 (some in good condition some are bad) that are driven by older adults.
So those could still be out in the market if the car give the owner trouble and they don't wanna fix them.
But it's not just the frame I need to get some new skins too. when I bought it I thought thatb I would only need to do the body work so I tought to my self the exact same thing you just said. If I buy it for $400 and I get that done andd it shouldn't be over $2500 for the new skins and repainting so I was still good. Now It looks like it might cost me $4,000-$5,000 to get it fixed. But I did find a guy willing to help me fix it. But I don't know how much he will be in the grander scheem of things.
You knew that getting into AE86 life is gonna be this way...if you can't deal with problems now, it's gonna be a tough road up ahead. I don't mean to be a dick, but what did you expect for $400? I wouldn't be so quickly phazed by all this...calm down, take a long hard look at what you have to do...sure it's gonna cost a lil money, but so does a newer car. I mean, if you buy a decent "sporty" car, nowadays, it'll cost you at least twice as much (compared to your predicted repair bills) to get something like a (gasp!) HONDA Civic.
I think you're just getting too many cynical opinions from where you're at. It's getting you Cynical. Look at the bright side..if you stick to it, you'll have a pretty decent AE86 for $5000 or probably less. Check out Mac Dale's Site.. http://www.geocities.com/ae86boy he spent about $5000+ on body alone. Even if you get to HALF of the amount of work that has gone into that car, you'll have a decent Corroded...errr I mean Corolla.
