I was out for an early morning spirited drive in the country (10:30 AM so traffic didn't exist) pushing my car to the limit nearly every turn. I had been flooring it through all the blind turns, but for some reason i slowed way for an upcoming one, but still around 35mph when entering a 90 degree turn. At the apex of it i see a sheet of black ice. As i was nearing it, all i could do was clench the wheel as i looked over the ditch and woods i was sliding into, i slid off the road slgihtly, luckily grabbing a bite of traction sliding into the ditch and woods. I was lucky i didn't lose my car.
It's been 5 months since i had a car i could take out in the country and have fun with.
But seriously, that's not the point of my story, there's so many more risks than what one may see when out for a spirited drive, so many unexpected things can happen. I should've taken a lap down the road to inspect it before letting loose, this has always been the road i've taken my cars to so i knew it fairly well, so i thought nothing of taking a slow lap through it.
Hey that has happened a few times around here.. Just on the normal rodes people driving to work and what not... hit ice and slide into other lane and bam..

Yeah, just a word of warning. Ice on a dry, sunny day was the last thing i expected.
u also have to take into account that in cold weather..ur tires will never warm up to optimal temp.....that applies to wet rainy conditions also.....slow down.......
My tires don't even have a brand name, heh, just say "General".
If anyone can point me towards longer studs while on the subject, it'd be appreciated. I just spent what my car is worth in tires for 16" rims, unfortionately the offset is way off and i need spacers, one isn't enough and still rubs, two spacers and i don't have enough threads.
yeah never drive as "Spirited in winter....i know from experience that leftover ice/slush/snow on backroads can be a bitch. Ive had several close calls on backroads in winter.
