It Has Begun

I've (With help from my awesome girlfriend) begun stripping the car down to make way for the SF kit which I'll be picking up tomorrow (fingers crossed). So far the only difficult thing has been the oil pan which did not want to leave the motor, since I had to remove it though... a little persuasion was used in the form of a pry bar and hammer.

More images can be seen here:

I'm going to take as many pictures as I can so others can see how easy this kit is to install. I will be installing the base kit with the M/W injection but will over time make a few changes to accomidate the Unichip and fifth injector. That is unless Mike gets this thing CARB'd then I'll leave it alone inthe interest of being legal.

Hey if you want true balls stuck to the seat speed.. carb it.. if you want this performance and efficiency and blah blah then get a GOOD EFI system so u can program it yourself and have it run the way you awnt.. like very lean on the high-way so u can get like 40-50mpg high way..

Those oil pans are stuck on there.. I just used some hammer tapping around the flange and a screw driver.. Be careful when re-installing the pan.. make sure everything is CLEAN and residue free around the flange and the block.. I don't know what this SF kit is.. If you are putting the old oil pan back on make sure that the oil plan flange is flat as can be .. and don't over-torque the bolts.. they break easy.. I know.. I re-did my oil pan job 3 times.. just to find out the leak was coming from the valve cover.. the camshaft oil seal to be exact.. ahahhah

Huh??? You do know the SF kit is the Stafford Fabrication Turbo Kit right???

Sleepy, yeah... I have not been on the boards that much lately. I wanted to get everything done before posting stuff up but Mike Stafford is dragging his feet on my kit and just about everyone elses for that matter. I paid full in Cash weeks ago so you'd think my kit would be one of the first to leave the shop...

Good luck to you, and enjoy the kit. By the way, nice job on the outer look of your car. Seeing it from the back, sure does look good.
But yeah be careful with the oil pan those can be a bitch.

The car is running but not without problems. I don't have the intercooler piping that came with the suppossed kit because it didn't fit and needs to be redone. I had to have a pipe made to run from the turbo to the intake so I could get the car back on it's feet and running. The car is leaking oil fromt he weld in the oil pan where the return line fitting was welded on. The car also has a bad hesitation. when I enter a turn in second gear and let the RPM get below two grand the car bogs big time when I try to accelerate. I am getting the new piping later this week so will see if the bogging is a condition of the shorter non-intercooler piping but something tells me it's not.

This is what the car looks like now:

And this is how the car should look:

Hopefully the car will be all back together and running correctly by the end of this week... I'll keep all posted...

Nice work man, there's a few TO guys doing the same deal, Mike's actually flying down and doing the installs, one on a Celica and the other on Jae's 'rolla, and a few others I think. You're not the first person I've heard complain about drivability and fitment. Hopfully it all gets sorted. Good luck.
