Crazy Sound from Rear End

I just bought an 86 GTS coupe and I had to drive it out of a parking garage to get it towed home (couldn't get a temp). Anyways, on the way out, as I went through the gears, from the back of the car, it's making a high pitched noise. Gets higher as I speed up, basically, the faster the back wheels spin, the louder it gets.

I was wondering if anyone knew what it could be? I was thinking, because the e-brake is seized up (stuck down, can't pull it up) that it's scraping the pads slightly against the rotors in the back and scraping really bad. I haven't had a chance to take anything apart because of the cold and I was wondering if anyone had any insight before I tryed anything

Thanks

Roby

It seems to be a talent of mine to find good deals. I have no idea what it is. Maybe if you aren't busy sometime, you can pass by and help me figure it out.

Your problem, or rather problems, might be the brake pads from the rear, the scraping noise that you are hearing might be coming from the brake indicators, these produces a scraping noise if the brake pads are worn. However, you do have to change both the pads and the rotors (Go with Brembos ). On the other hand, your problem with the Ebrake could be that the cable line from the ball of the switch is cut off, or there is a frozen or gunk build up from your brake line, or even the whole Ebrake assembly is messed up (this is usually caused by Drift racers who depend on their Ebrakes for drifting ). Anyhow, check those problems out!

jack up the car and spin the back wheels manually! if it's not the brakes, it might be the wheel bearings need to be replaced. goodluck bro and a nice find!

Or simply it might be because it is too cold. Maybe try puting it in the garage and warming up the back of the car somehow and then lift the car and manually test yeach wheel. Sometimes problems can accur because of weather conditions.
