has any one installed seats?

for the ae86, has anyone installed aftermarket seats? im not plannin on gettin super good seats like recaro or sparco. some cheap tenzo or obx seats would do great ! im 6'4", the stock seats are just too high for me ! my head touches the celing and i cant see my cluster too well. its really annoying !

ive heard pepo use the ae86 pass side sliders and just do some custom fabrication for a underbelly seat mount for the driver side. who has done this? does it work?

u can go to any performance shop and ask them if they can do it. or if they don't then they'll defenetly know someone who does the installs.

well if you work at wheels direct, you prolly knew Edwin with the blue EG. he told me he knew somebody that can weld and mount any aftermarket seat on stock rails for 50 bucks

i had a sparco sprint (bottom mount) mounted onto 1985 gts rails at home. all i had to do was take a few measurements, buy a 90 degree angled steel stock from home depo and started drilling and cutting (with dremel) and bolting up..

jover has my seat setup now. he used it for the drift event last year and i used it to track at shannonvile twice with no problems

randy has mastered mounting a side mount sparco seat low on the ae86, you should ask him how he did it on his.

i feel that installing a seat cant be that hard. so im gonna save my self some cash, and learn this time !

yea, edwin is kinda in and out. martini, did you use the stock driver side sliders? how thick of a metal slab did you use ? plain steel?

i kno that the pass side and driver side sliders are different. i remeber someone telling that the pass side is easier and i should use the pass sliders.

the home made mounts, did it raise/lower/stay the same height? seating height that is.

yes, i used the stock slider.. i had to dremel/hack away a few pieces of metal from it so i could have a flat mounting surface. i used an angled 90 degree steel stock, i can't really explain how i did it cause it's unexplainable without diagrams.

my seating position was lower than the stock 86 seat

also, please keep in mind that the 84/85 seat rails and the 86-87 rails are different in design. i did my converison on the 85 rails

i dunno man, i guess the tip of the day is, when you're drilling holes on the rails, point a vaccum hose next to it to suck up the metal bits... cause if you don't, your sliders would be notchy

you should be able to figure out how to mount the thing no problem.. i figured it out on my own too, and i'm dumb. hahaha
