^^^ it all depends on what you like. some people like FRs and some people like FF cars. i personally will vote for the 86 just because i like old rear drive cars.. but the JDM Truenos are good too and they're FF, it's just that we don't have 'em here in north america.

I vote for the AE86 GT-S. No problem going 90 in blizzards with all seasons and RWD = damn fine car. 4A-GE is an awsome engine and it also has pop up head lights. And of corse I love RWD. So naturally I love my little Corolla. And I have a little more say having owned a FF Corolla for comparison. Though I did enjoy that corolla as well but it was not as fun as my AE86.
Well right now I have an AE92 Candy Red Corolla Sedan, I have done pretty much every single custimization on the car that I could think off (Spent close to about 11 G's already ) But a friend of mine gave me an option to buy one of the two cars he has: an AE91 Trueno, that is the one with the pop up head lights I think , and a newly rebuilt AE86 Trueno. which one should I get?
OR Which one is the BEST?
*Although I still have my full devotion on my AE92 Sedan Drifter, and it's an FF ***
TofuRacer..have you ever driven an ae86 before? If not, I suggest that you take it for a spin. Then choose which one you want to buy. Not everybody likes the ae86.
Which one is the best --> all about personal preference.
Oh..fyi...they never built trueno's in north america... j/k ... I know what you meant

I agree. I my self prefer RWD but you may not like it. Take it for a spin and see if you like it.
Originally posted by toyotaspeed90 for "performance" i would say the 90-91 corolla GTS.....for all around fun to drive i would say the ae86.....
Care to elaborate why?
In my mind as far as "performance" goes a FWD set up is not very effective. I've watch profesional FWD lapping and it is only 5 laps and they have to pit at least once. I get a good laugh thinking of thm doing an endurance run. They are too rough on tire ware. They lack the proper ballance a RWD can delive in trems of lapping and taking corners. I just can't see the AE92 being able to out perform a AE86 on corners with both being modded to an equal level.
However FWD arn't that bad for the drag strip. But then again the 4A-GE isn't really prefered for drag racing. The 3T serise of engines are. Though I'm not saying that the 4A-GE can't be used for the drag strip because there are many people that do use it but I find more prefer the 3T serise as far as Corolla engines go.
So I'm going to have to disagree with you as far as "performace" goes. Unless your talking bare stock. Because they have stronger engines and thus go fast in a straight line. Just driving in a straight line is hardy something to base over all performance on which is what this guy wants to know about.
So I'm going to suggest this because the AE92 and AE86 are 2 completly different cars. If you like to take corners get a AE86 and if you like going fast in a straight line get the AE92.
^^^ yeah, but you can brake later with an FF than with an FR when taking corners. i've seen guys at shannonville driving FF cars, they brake way later than FRs. but that's just my observation!
