Catalytic Converter Problems

About two days ago, I was driving my AE92 Sedan on a turnpike highway, Suddenly a Silver Jetta cuts me off and starts putting his hazards on, I got furious . So I raced him where I was going about 70 mph then I pushed it to the 110 mph on my speed'o meter. I was probably even going faster than that seeing the Jetta deminishing behind my rear view mirrors. Although I had a moment of joyful victory with my mini race, I suddenly heard a clanking noise underneath my chassy, it was not the heat shield but the cat. I replaced the darn thing about five times already, Can anyone tell me if going straight piping on an AE92 Corolla Sedan would be a smart idea.

Damn...maybe it's time to replace the piping before and after your cat. I just replaced my cat and downpipe. I don't understand how it would just fall off. Tighten everything up. Best of luck.

I did, I have a 2" catback piping to a magnaflow twin exhaust, and a pace setter headers installed. It's the stupid cat that is giving me an annoyance. Should I just go straight piping or I have heard of a glass pack, are any of these good for my lovely RIDE.

It depends..I got 2 1/2 inch piping from the cat back with a high flow cat. If emissions allow it or you don't care take that cat out and replace it with straight piping. I've heard of glass pack in a muffler if that's what your talkin about. Damn that would probably be loud as hell with the cat out.....

I cut off my stock muffler and installed a performance glass pack cherry bomb muffler. My findings with the glass pack is that it gives the car a beefier deep tone to it. It does not make the car too loud. yes it is louder but is reasonable. They are also remarklibly cheap mine 24"long 2" in and outlet was $15.00.
Down side- illegal in large cities. and Popo eye catching tourch red.

Your best bet would be to replace the whole system if you keep losing cats. If you straight pipe it put a quieter muffler on it or you'll have migraines on the hightway from the drone.
