4AC Engine, What sorta output can i get out of this little thing!?

Heya guys, I have a 1987 Corolla Seca CS-X
This is my first post in this forum. You all seem to have your heads screwed on so i think i can trust you guys with this post. haha

Anyways, i've asked this question alot in other forums

" What can I do with my AE82 4AC engine?"

My usuall reply is " Don't waste your money. buy a 4AGE."

But the thing is....i have money to waste. i have been told to buy these parts. but i don't know where from or how much for the lot. please point me in the right direction.

cheers in advance.

Yea a T/C Would be your quickest route to speed/power.. Although you shaved your head.. you may want to actually use a thicker headgasket now to lower your compression for the T/C.

Other than that.. if you want to just keep it N/A.. then get your crank shaft knife edged.. that's a start.. plus some custom light-weight pistons and rods.. etc etc..

Think of it this way.. a 150hp.. if that's at the wheels.. is pretty damn good for a little car like yours.

Most of us would probably say go 4A-GE, but since you're so adamant on using the 4A-C, are sidedraft carbs a possibility at all? Without using forced induction, it would appear that you have all the other basic things covered, unless you know someone who can make a nice header for you.

150 hp with all those mods? is that to the wheels or flywheel? if they can provide you with proof that'll make your car 150 on the wheels i'd go for it. what kinda of duration are they telling you to go for? the schneider cams are one the best in the world if you ask me when it comes to carb engines. and about the carbs, i'd personally go for dual side-drafts like weber 40's or mikunis. but some guys like Flashmn, runs keihin carbs from the big bikes. all the stuff you have on your post are descent but i doubt you'll get 150 to the wheels with just those. if they say it was done before try getting a dyno sheet. a lot people are just adding up horsepower together and that's how they come up with 150hp regardless of tunability. anyone, feel free to prove me wrong.

NOTE: do more research on modifications and decide on what you wanna achieve on your car like do you want high end or low end power and such. don't just listen to everyone esp. shops that you don't know.

So true..
I seriously doubt 150.. that's BS... I know for a fact because on my 4AF I have 244 cams.. I had the Weber 32/36.. and I have 4-2-1 headers with 2" exhaust out.. and NO way am I pulling anything close to 150..

The head shaving and porting will give you another probably 5hp to the wheels at most.. Don't make the intake ports any bigger just roughen the surface area up.. and if you want you can polish the hell out of the exhaust side.

Make yourself a custom manifold too for some good side-drafts.

I will take some new pics later on today.

Rofl.. REN didn't you say the same thing to me?

Nevermind Ren.. he's so closed minded to the 4AGE's little brothers..

Yea that is custom.. I designed it myself and had a one man operation machine shop weld it up.. and now I go to this guy to get all of my welding done.. great relationship to be formed between a car mod'er and a machinist..

I should let you know I found the reason why my car didn't want to perform properly.. the set of Keihins I have need to be mounted at a 45 degree semi-downdraft angle.. they are semi downdrafts.. so the floats weren't sitting level in that 90 degree mount position

Learn something new every day.
