Angry 85 corolla, does not turn over

I have an 85 corolla. I swapped the 1.6 for a 1.5l from a tercel. I tried to start the car for the first time and it cranked over fine, but I found that the carberator gasket to the intake was leaking. I had to push the car outside and it sat for about 2 weeks. I pushed it back into the garage, replaced the carb gaskets and tried to start it. Now, it does not crank over at all, and the starter does not make any noise at all. The battery is fully charged, I cannot find any blown fuses, and the starter is getting constant power. When I turn the ignition to the "on" position, the idiot lights come on except for the check engine light does not. I believe I'm not getting power to the ECM, but I cannot find any disconnected wires or blown fuses. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

1. Your starter is dead
2. why the FUCK did you swap out a 4AGE (It would be a 4AGE right?) Engine for a fuckin tercel engine?
3. Carb'd engines such as your Tercel engine do not have "check engine" lights..
4. You don't hear ANY clicks or nothing when you turn the key over? Are you absolutely sure ALL of your ground wires are connected? Any ground wires that were connected to the cars chassis or anything.. They must all be connected.. my car won't start unless I have the ground wire that comes off of the passanger side wheel well and connects to the intake manifold.

There is a way for the ground wires to be connected I just don't know what the pattern is.. It's like, battery grounded to tranny, intake manifold to body, blah blah I've heard it before but I don't remember what the order is.

you need to calm down there sometimes..... not all 85 corolla's have a 4a-ge... in fact, only the ae86 GTS and ae82 gts had a 4a-ge... the rest had a 4a-c sohc carb'd motor.....

But still.. why a Tercel engine? I'm figuring it's an older Tercel because he said it's carb'd... that and it's a 1.5l.. seems like a downgrade to me

it is the 4-ac 1.6l. The tercel motor is the same, only 1.5l. Yes it is a downgrade, just had trouble finding a 1.6l at a decent price. I got the 1.5l w/35,000mi for $400. It's a commuter car for gas mileage, not a race car! These forums are for helping people with there toyota, not a place to be an asshole when you don't know what you talking about!

Try tapping the solenoid on the starter with the handle of a hammer or somthing. Sometimes they seize up and a good tap will free it up.

Uh.. ur calling me an asshole and saying I don't know what i'm talking about? Heh.. if so.. I ain't the one on here asking why my car doesn't start.. I wasn't being an ass.. I was just dumbfounded as to why you would downgrade.. when a 4AGE would give you probably just as good mileage in stock.. and if you REALLY want to get shit fit on me.. I know someone who has an extremely modified 4AGE and it gets 50mpg high way.. Talk about fuel mileage.

You started it man, admit it.

Instead of "Why the fuck would you do that?!?" you could have asked "I'm kinda curious as to why you'd swap an older motor with less displacement?" That way you wouldn't have had your feelings hurt.

Anyway, back on topic people.

I didn't mean it as an insult.. I just use certain words liberally sometimes.. that's all. So I'm sorry if you took it like that.

Only think I can think of ...

Is the starter motor ground connected - properly - at both ends?

Wow.. $400 US for a 1.5L 4AC.. you can get 4AGE's for that much in Canada.. with transmission included.. I dunno why americans get killed when it comes to parts.. I'm glad to be in Canada.
