87 corolla FX?

From searching, I've learned that a 1987 Corolla FX is a two door hatchback, on the AE82 chassis, with a 4ALC motor.

Can anyone please tell me more specs on this car? How reliable are they? What simple swaps are available?

Thanks,
-Brian.

No swap is simple my friend.. unless you're swapping the same engine.

All Corollas are good cars, same toyota reliability.. your FX is kinda rare in my area (Canada) but they're more available in the US.

The FX series Corollas were only sold for two years (87/88) in the USA, and were never sold in Canada.

They were manufactured in the USA at the NUMMI plant in California, the same plant that produced the Chevy Nova during the same period (basically the exact same car as the Toyota Corolla). That same plant now produces the Pontiac Vibe, and Toyota Voltz (an export for Japan only).

All FX's were 4AC powered, except for the FX-16 and FX-16 GT-S, which got the 4AGE engine.

The FX series is basically the 84-87 Corolla 5 door hatchback, but drastically shortened, reducing it to an almost awkward looking 3 door.

Not to mention 4 wheel disc brakes on the FX-16 GTS. + rear roof spoiler and side skirts. Peppy machines that always had problems with the lower control arms.
