New to the forum and questions!

I just want to say hi to everyone here. I'm new to the corolla scene, but definitely not new to the import tuner/toyota scene.

I recently purchased a 1992 geo prizm. Which...to my research is essentially a corolla. I "believe" they had the 4ag engine. My question is...is everything the same or are there some minor differences?

The car has a cracked head and i'm wondering where would i go about getting a replacement or repair?

Also...for future references...are there any power upgrades for this engine? Cams, turbo kits, exhaust, intake, etc.... as well as any suspension upgrades?

As i heard the car is essentially a geo prizm...but is everthing just like a corolla but just a different badge? ex: all the body panels have the same dimensions? so i can buy a body kit from a corolla and it'll fit the car?

any information is appreciated...thanks.

if your car does have a 4age in it then you have lots of mods that you can get for it. hks cams, hks or greddy turbo kits, nology wires and plugs. pretty much any motor stuff they make for the ae86 and ae92 will fit for your motor. maybe even a 20valve will fit? suspension im not to sure of.

i did a few more research and i have found that the 90-92 prizms do have two engines that they put out. the 4afe's and the 4ag's.

does anyone know where to look on the engine to tell what engine i exactly have?

perhaps a unique vin number code to tell as well?

The car doesn't come with a manual and the owner is not sure....the car is also a 5 speed.

Yes 1992 is the last year for the boxy body style and the 4a-fe/ 4a-ge engine offerings. The trim level will tell you what engine you have. The "Gsi" has the 4a-ge, and the base model has the 4a-fe. The Former puts out 130HP and the latter 102HP.

Airconditioning and rear-window defogger was standard on the GSI, so if you don't have A/C or the de-fog, it's probably a 4a-fe.

The other thing is the GSI has 14 inch wheels to the base model's 13 inch wheels.

thanks chris for the reply!

This confirms to me that it's 90% a 4ag. Which is good news. I'll have to check to see if it has the 14inch wheels when i go pick up it.

What's the most these babies can push out of these engine's?

I'm guessing 250hp-ish? for n/a for a fully built? Im not to sure...

thanks for all the help.

Just because you have defrost and A/C doesn't mean it's a GSI, they were options on the base. The wheels will tell you if they are the stock ones. Check the tire size...

Check the Corolla Sticky for info on how to Turbo-charge a 4A-GE.
