Intake '04 Corolla S

Question.... how much difference would it make between keeping a stock air intake but swapping the filter with a K&N and an Injen intake
http://www.vpower.net/catalog/produc...products_id=61

or... what is the best thing to do because I want it to work well regardless of rain/snow... etc.. and one other thing how much would it cost to have someone install a turbo into a car, like a rough estimate? Thanks a lot peeps I appreciate any responses!

"Question.... how much difference would it make between keeping a stock air intake but swapping the filter with a K&N and an Injen intake"

If you remove the airbox resonator (below the box in the fender), and snorkle, and put a K&N Panel filter in your airbox, then you might see a 2 HP gain in the mid-high end of the revs.
The Injen Cold Air might net you as much as 6HP in the high end.

As always if you drive through a puddle deep enough to cover the whole cone filter on the Injen intake, it will ruin your engine.

"and one other thing how much would it cost to have someone install a turbo into a car, like a rough estimate?"

As a point of reference the Stafford Fabrications (southern CA) complete turbo kit for an '04 rolla is somewhere around $3,000-$3,500.

I know someone with an '04 Manual Trans Rolla with grounding wires, TRD Cold Air, cat-back exhaust, and he dynoed at 128HP to the wheels.

Ask around shops to get a price for install but I would guess it would be $500-$1000 for install.

There is no way to turn a turbo on and off. It is a permanant part of your car's intake and exhaust system. With a boost controller you can limmit the amount of maximum boost, so you can run a lower level for better fuel economy on the street...
Try doing some research on www.howstuffworks.com to understand turbos.

I would also recommend changing or moving the intake. As you probebly have noticed that the air intake ends next to headlight. Which means that when you headlight gets hot (DRL and night driving) you're sucking in a lot of hot air. If you go to an official '03 corolla website (can't remember the link right now, you can ask around) they have instructions on how to change the position of your intake.

EMEX, please don't open your mouth when you are going to talk shit Just Kidding, but really the heat of the Headlight has no real effect on the temperature of the intake charge considering there is an internal combustion engine right next to it as well
Plus if you even read my post I suggested to remove the intake snorkle already...
