What is the best tyre for '99 Corolla

Folks,
We have a '99 Corolla CE. We changed all four tyres few (2 years roughly) years back. Soon after that, we felt steering wheel wobble. We mentioned this to the service guy when we took it to service. They rotated tyres etc. However, nothing happened. Now, the dealer from whom we bought these tyres says we need to replace these tyres as there's some damage. He's willing to give a proration on these tyres since we bought it from him. But, we are not sure if should buy the same quality tyre or something else.
Please advise on the best tyre for '99 Corolla. The tyre that's on Corolla right now: GoodYear P185/65R14 85S S1 Integrity B03RPTL

Thanks

For the money you can't find an all season radial with better wet and dry traction than the Dunlop SP Sport A2. I have them on my 2001 Corolla (same as yours basically) and they are great. (For more opinions check out the tire review thread in the Harcore/Tech forum Sticky)

Be forwarned, with any tire, if it is not kept properly inflated at all times and properly rotated every 4,000 miles they will wear prematurley and unevenly.

My experience is that the Goodyears and Firestones that come stock on all newer Corollas are total crap and should be upgraded as soon as they wear out or sooner.

I replaced the OEM tires on my '99 Corolla with Goodyear Aquatred 3 (Pd around $100+ per tire in 2002). I just replaced those with Toyo Proxes TPT (185/65R14 at $150/each). Noise level has gone down alot, but can't comment on the other stuff as they've only been on a one day so far. Grip seems to be good but it's way too early to tell.

Right, those are good tires, but the Dunlop I mentioned is $55 a tire or about $70 mounted and ballanced.

EDIT: Oops but I suppose Rmonkey is using CND money, while you are in the US, so I guess they are more comparable...

Thanks for the advise. I found out that the guy who's giving a proration will not give proration for anything else other than GoodYear tires.

So, thinking of Good Year Regatta...what do you guys think about this one?

Thanks again

I've got P185/65R14 T-rated Bridgestone Potenza RE900s on my car (NOT godawful Potenza RE92s), and I'm very happy with them (can't say how much they cost, as I paid US$200 for them with 500 miles on them on '01 Corolla alloys). They have a 50,000 mile treadwear warranty, and have a great balance of low noise and great traction. They resist hydroplaning very well (had it up to 150 km/h in the rain and it stayed perfectly stable, versus the 80,000 mile tyres the car came with when I bought them, which hydroplaned at 90 in light rain and were bald at 33,000 miles). They also didn't do too poorly in the snow, which really surprised me.

The Bridgestone Potenza RE900s are about the best tires i've ever had. They stick well in all conditions and do not wear out quick. The tires are a tad bit expensive but well worth the extra money. The tires RedAE102 has were originally on my car and they performed well beyond my every expectation and then some.

If I could afford the Bridgestones for the wheels I have now I would go for them in a heartbeat but they are close to $200 per tire for the Z-rated tires. I have Toyo Proxes 4s on my car now and am very happy with them but nothing beats the Bridgestones for performance...
