Can I use 89 corolla tranny parts for manual tranny conversion for my 93?

will the parts fit? I saw a few of those pre 93 corolla with manual transmission.. i wonder if I can just pull everything out of those older car and put it in my 93 for auto-to-manual conversion.

I was told that my auto corolla was a manual and get converted to auto before I bought it. Is there any way I can verify that?

Wow, two people I've seen in other forums in one post!

Anyway, the easiest way to check which transmission your car came with is to look on the VIN label on the B-pillar inside the driver's door. It will be under A/TM: it should say -02A/ (or something similar) then your transmission model. I'm not sure which engine you have, so I'll put both cases up:

4A-FE (1.6) transmissions:
C50: 5-speed manual
A131L: 3-speed automatic

7A-FE (1.8) transmissions:
C52: 5-speed manual (basically a slightly beefier C50 with a taller first gear)
A245E: 4-speed electronically controlled automatic (ECT) with overdrive

But yes, the AE92 GT-S transmission has a C52 with a shorter final drive, making for more sprightly around town performance.

I am sorry.. but not all pre93 model is AE92 right? I think they dont have this in my local junkyard, they had a few plain corolla(i assume they are not AE92) with manual transmission.

But other then the transmission itself, can I use the parts for the whole conversion process? like the pedal or whatever it takes to do a swap from auto to manual?

I have a 7A-FE with 4 speed in my corolla.

I also saw someone selling a front wrecked 93 corolla with manual trans, new clutch for $750.. is that a good idea to get that but how much should I offer? i think $750 is a bit high.

all 1988-1992 (except in japan) are considered an ae92 (minus the ae95 alltrac)..... i was just suggesting you find an ae92 GTS tranny

the linkage and shifter mounting may not be the same (along with pedals etc)

If you want the pedals and everything to work, then you need a M/T that came on a 7a-fe equiped 93-97 Corolla(AE102).
