charcoal canister replacement

Hello everyone nice site you got here. hopefully someone can help me out. my sisters 98 corolla has a bad charcoal canister and needs to be replaced. the dealer wants $500 for the job. Is this something a DIY can do? Where is it located and is there a good place online that sells toyota parts at reasonable prices? any info will be greatly appreciated. thanks

The best price for an OEM part is from the dealer.
Other places will either have the same price or more. You can get cheaper prices on the net, but shipping usually negates any savings. As for the job, get a Haynes manual from the local autoparts store for the car, it's not expensive. You can look at how to do it and decide if you want to tackle it.

Hi, you have the codes PO441 and PO446?
I did have the same problem, and everybody told me "replace the charcoal canister"; I expended $110 (the fuel cap, PCV valve and the presure valve (the one that's located with the canister) and bingo! problem fixed... to be honest... I think that it was the presure valve...

If you're interested in OEM parts, I do sell to TN members for 30% off MSRP and I only charge actual shipping costs plus $1.00 - $2.00 for materials, etc. I am an authorized Toyota Dealer and these are OEM parts. If yo have any questions, or are interested, fell free to contact me.
