I am a complete NOOB when it comes to toyota and i know im gonna get flamed for this post but i gotta learn sometime. PLEASE CORRECT ME IF IM WRONG ON ANYTHING
1) the hachi roku is the 85-87 corolla gts coupe
2) what is a hachi go
3)i know the hachi roku is a well balanced car, so would doing a swap destroy the balance (the weight difference between stock and common swaps)?
4)what are common swaps
4)what is the difference between the gts coupe and other 85-87 corollas.
thanks alot in advance for your help
2. the hachi go is the ae85, which basically has a 4ac instead of a 4ag and different suspension . I don't think the ae85 came here, but I think it can be compared to the sr-5.
3. Well it really depends which engine you swap in.
4. common swaps are 4agze and the 20v.
5. you want to know the difference between the hatch/coupe and the sedan??

"One challenge for the companies is to persuade youths to buy the right cars for drifting. Front-wheel-drive Hondas, Mazdas, Toyotas and Mitsubishis, which are the popular choice for customizing, don't work for drifting. Rear-wheel-drive Japanese vehicles such as the 1990-1998 Nissan 240SX, pre-1984 Toyota Corollas and the Mazda RX7, which was discontinued in 1996, are most popular for drifting. The cars can be bought for as little as $1,500 and rarely cost more than $6,000."-USA TODAY
hachi mean 8 in japaneses.....and roku mean 6......
and hachi go mean 85.....Usually hachi-roku for guys instead in cars is the gts version corolla...and hachi go is basically same thing as sr5 version of hachi corolla..
the different in between 85 and 86 is engine (sohc and dohc), front disc and rear drum.....instead 4 wheel discs........the most different between gts and other corolla is that yr was the last gen. which have rear wheel drive...
what are common swaps blue top(stock), red top(hi-compression), silver top(20v vvt), black top(20v vvti), bluetop 4a-gze (supercharged, afm), redtop 4a-gze (supercharged, map)

im gonna throw some more noob questions in here also.
is a 2JZ-GTE a possible swap for any 85-87 corolla or is it one of those possible, but will cost you 30 grand to do it. and if it can be done would it doestroy the wonderfully balanced car and make it just another RWD?

anything is possible with money..but seriously....if u had 30gs to play with....wouldn't u buy a supra tt in the first place...keep in mind....these cars are over 15 yrs old.....not the newest cars around......its hard enough to find a decent one w/o any rust and in running condition......
are u sure u haven't been watching Initial D lately......
MRQturbo said, you can fit anything. But remember, the easy swaps are when you change engines of the same family series.
Example, a 4A-FE to a 4A-GE. A 3E- to a 4E-.
Typicaly the name of your car shows what engines it can take.
Eg an AE86 the E86 is the chassis, and the A refers for what mounts it has ie, a A- series engine.
My car is a EE90, E90 chassis, with a crappy E- engine mounts
(well the 4e-fte i put in isn't all that week though )

yea, with loads of $$ you can fit ANYTHING in there ! ive seen a 13b rotary, b18 gsr, 1jz(dunt remeber if its turbo), sr20det, and finally a frankenstein 4ag. i think they used the 1800cc engine block. what engine was that from again? 5fe? or somethinglike it.?
2jz is hard cause now you got 2 more cylinders you gotta accomidate for ! unless you are MECHANICALY incline, i mean REALLY incline, and your gonna send your car out to do that swap. DONT ! its not worth the cash. ! its a 18 year old car man ! just try to find a supra or rx7 if you want rwd power.
the corolla is an old rotting car. you get that car if you LOVE initial D, love drifting (but me personally, i think the silvias are much better for drifting. newer body. easier to replace parts. more intial power from factory), or just love old classic jap cars.
i am mechanicaly stupid. but im learning by taking apart stuff and always calling my mechanic !! hahaha, so im always learning ! its a good thing ! old cars are great for self teaching!! im gonna get a 280z fiarlady !!! wow ! i need lead additives to start it ! hahaha
....hachi-go is faster than hachi-roku obviously.....go in japanese means speed and roku means economy
